INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC SUPPLY LISTS

 

In addition to the instrument, the following items are needed for class:

 

 

• FLUTE: cleaning rod, a soft cloth

 

• CLARINET: soft cloth, cleaning swab, cork grease, at least 4 reeds (size #2).

 

• ALTO SAX: soft cloth, cleaning swab, cork grease, at least 4 reeds (size #2), padded

neck strap.

 

• TRUMPET/CORNET/BARITONE: soft cloth, valve oil.

 

• TROMBONE: soft cloth, slide cream or oil.

 

• VIOLIN/VIOLA/CELLO/DOUBLE BASS: make sure the correct size is provided, bow,

soft cloth, rosin, shoulder rest (violin/viola), “rockstop” for cellos.

 

• PERCUSSION: a complete percussion kit that includes bells with stand, bell mallets,

practice pad with stand, drum sticks. A snare drum is not essential for class but

may be desired for home-practice. This kit will be extremely heavy and should

have wheels built into the case.

 

MCPS provides each beginning student with a class textbook. If it is lost or damaged over the course of the year, you will be responsible for purchasing your own replacement (usually less than $10). RETURNING STUDENTS will be using the same book from last year.
